Tehachapi, California, is located in the Tehachapi Mountain Range of the Sierra Nevada where it swings to the East above Los Angeles.   It lies at the ideal altitude of approximately 4000 feet above sea level,   with a backdrop of picturesque peaks reaching to 7,900 feet.  From the higher elevations,  you can see far to the North to the snow-capped peaks of the central Sierras.

Tehachapi enjoys four distinct seasons,   and with a growing season that's ideal for all kinds of fruits and vegetables.   The Summers are warm and inviting.  The Fall is dressed in the glorious colors of a wide variety of trees, including the dominant mighty Oak.  The Winters bring light snow falls that never linger,  and the Springs are full of the songs of migrating birds.

From humble beginnings as a railroad and ranching supply point, Tehachapi has grown to be big enough to have modern supermarkets and services,  yet still retain all of the warmth and intimacy of small-town America.    Major shopping and business centers are only a short freeway   drive/commute to the East or West,  and Tehachapi lies on a convenient  access route to all of America!

For the railroad buff,  Tehachapi is only a short hop from the famous Tehachapi Loop on the busiest single-track rail line in America, with close-in vantage points for the photog.  Tehachapi also has two airports,  one with full services and  biz-jet capability and the other a cozy strip with camping facilities and tow planes available for the popular and fast-growing sport of gliding!
